The ISO standard 16128 defines how the natural and/or biological content of individual raw materials should be calculated, as well as that of an overall cosmetics formula. For this purpose, the ISO standard defines 7 categories of cosmetic substances: natural, natural mineral, derived natural, derived mineral, organic, derived organic and non-natural.
The first part of the ISO standard establishes the definitions of these categories. The second shows the criteria to be used for calculations, including examples.
