We distinguish between fish that have been caught in the wild and fish that have been reared on fish farms (as well as aquaculture). Both types of fish are assessed based on a wide range of aspects ("main categories"). There is a different scientific basis for each main category, with multiple scientific concepts sometimes also being taken into consideration. The m-check website provides explanations of the assessment criteria. More detailed information is also available directly on the FishSource website as well as the full aquaculture scoring methodology.
